The videos and tiktok esk side makes it fun to hear my target language and I love how they (for Japanese) focus on kanji and the answer has the furigana.

Is Circassian difficult to learn for English speakers?
Circassian is considered one of the most challenging languages for English speakers, broadly sitting in the Category IV range with an estimated 1,500 hours or more to reach professional proficiency. It refers to a group of Northwest Caucasian languages — primarily Kabardian (East Circassian) and Adyghe (West Circassian) — and both are renowned among linguists for their extraordinary phonological complexity, with consonant inventories of 60 or more sounds, including a range of uvular, pharyngeal, and ejective consonants that are highly unfamiliar to English ears. Grammar is equally complex, with a polypersonal verb system that encodes multiple arguments within a single verb form, and an ergative-absolutive alignment that marks subjects of transitive and intransitive verbs differently. Vocabulary shares no roots with English. That said, Circassian uses a Cyrillic-based alphabet that is phonetically consistent once learned. Memrise structures Circassian learning around high-frequency vocabulary and everyday phrases, helping learners tackle the phonology and grammar progressively rather than being overwhelmed from the start.
How long does it take to learn Circassian?
Circassian has no official US Foreign Service Institute rating, but is broadly estimated to require 1,500 hours or more to reach professional proficiency — placing it among the most demanding languages for English speakers, comparable to Cherokee and Inuktitut. The 60-plus consonant inventory requires extensive and dedicated phonetic training, and the polypersonal verb system, which encodes multiple arguments within a single verb form, means the grammar remains deeply challenging well beyond the beginner stage. Vocabulary offers no shortcuts from English, and learning resources are more limited than for major world languages, reflecting the relatively small global speaker community. That said, the Cyrillic-based alphabet is phonetically consistent once learned, and the Circassian diaspora community has produced a growing body of learning materials in recent years. Memrise focuses lessons on high-frequency vocabulary and everyday phrases, helping learners tackle the phonology and grammar progressively and build practical fluency steadily through one of the world's most phonologically complex languages.
