System Development
A set of activities used to build an information system
Analysis/Requirements phase
this consists of two major activities:
Detailed analysis
during detailed analysis members of the project team gather data and information using several techniques
Analysis phase-data modeling
data modeling is applied using a entity relationship diagram
Process Modeling (Data flow diagrams)
an analysis and design technique that describes processes that transform inputs into outputs
Design/Development Phase
Consists of two major activities
Implementation phase
goal is to construct the new or modified system then deliver the steps
Training in Implmentation phase
must train users how they will use the new hardware and software
Conversion strategies
one or more conversion strategies can be used to change the old system to the new system
Maintenance phase
provides ongoing assistance for an information system and its users after the system is implemented
