Learn to write, not print, in Russian from the very beginning. Handwriting (or cursive) is very important and takes a bit of practice. Writing in Russia is always done in cursive, unlike in English where many people write in block or printed letters. All students in Russia begin to learn cursive from the first grade using a workbook called a propisi (прописи).
You can get a PDF version of a propisi here: http://russian.lingualift.com/blog/russian-cursive-writing-practice-sheet/
