Ignore?
Weather
Day to day, short term current local conditions. Eg. Sunny with clear skies.
Climate
Average long term atmospheric conditions in a region based on many years of data.
Insolation
Incoming solar radiation or energy.
Seasons
The result of the amount of solar radiation a place gets at a given time of year.
Albedo
The percent of the solar radiation reflected back into space away from the planet.
Latitude
At higher latitudes the sunlight hits earth’s surface at an angle. Equator receives more direct energy.
Aspect
Slopes facing sun receive most energy throughout the year.
Altitude
Farther away from “warm” land surface the air becomes less dense.
Air Movement/Wind
Hot air is less dense and rises, creates low pressure area. Air from high pressure area, or cooler air, moves in to replace it.
Troposphere
Lowest level of the atmosphere, contains all the factors of weather.
Stratosphere
Layer above the Troposphere, ozone layer is found here and commercial airplanes fly in this layer.
Mesosphere
Third layer of atmosphere, meteors can break up in this layer as atmosphere becomes more dense compared to space.
Thermosphere
Fourth layer of atmosphere, is very thin and solar radiation heats the molecules here very fast. Layer were auroras happen.
Exosphere
Last layer of atmosphere that merges with space. Satellites are found here.
