This Course aims to teach Hindi, but first its writing system: Devanāgarī through ITrans (Indic Transliteration). In contrast to English, a Hindi (Devanāgarī) letter sounds one unique sound everywhere, always. And just for this reason, ITrans will also serve here as transcription standard. Note that in some cases, two different Hindi sounds /letters are differentiated by small and capital cases of Eng. letters in this scheme. So, 'da' द sounds different from 'Da' ड. Let's learn!
