Suggestion for pinyin/character questions:

It´s too easy to pick the correct pinyin/character if it is a "three character word", because you always know it is the one with three pinyin/characters, like that:

da pen ti

习惯 打喷嚏 在家 吃饭

right? Maybe it is possible to weave that into an algorithm, that it chooses only three character/pinyin alternatives :)

A good day to everybody, davjd

  • Try to turn off the analytical multiple choice test part of your brain when using the site. I look at the word I'm being asked and try not to look at the various options. Only after I've pronounced the word and can remember its meaning do I glance below to see my options (or to the text box to type it in). Otherwise, it would be too easy figure out the answer or narrow it down without really knowing it... but if you do that you are only cheating yourself.

I agree that itwould be nice if the tests were a bit more intelligent in some of teh options tehy provide. Occasionally, I will see medical terminology or spanish words in mandarin tests lol.

  • Big_Kahuna is right, but I'm with davjd on this. It seems like the phrase questions are almost freebies.

  • I must admit that sometimes my peripheral vision gives me the answer, perhaps subconsciously.

  • Thank you Kahuna! I agree, it´s best to try pronounciation and translation even in multiple choices. Alas, I haven´t had the mixed vocabulary before. Hsve fun learning you two :)
