Add words

Three issues:

  1. The new add as a list is utterly confusing. I have no idea what's going on when I use it.
  2. Add one-by-one bug: You can add the same word multiple times
  3. Add one-by-one bug: You cannot delete a word you have just added. You first need to finish editing then come back again.

Cheers!

  • Bug #2 update: The word is added to the list, but after finishing the editing session the list collapses into a set again (no dupes). That's a bit better than I thought, but still confusing.

  • Hi Jem, I am sorry that you are having trouble with this - it is intended to be very simple. It has also actually been there for a few months, so it isn't very new, though it is now the default because it is easier to add lots of words that way.

The way that it should work is that you just type or past in a list of words in the language that you are learning, and press enter. It will then pull all the matches in the wiki for each of those words. Then you click on the ones that you want to actually add. Once you have selected all the ones you want, you click "done editing" and the list will be saved. Is it working like that for you, or not?

I would hugely appreciate any reports of areas where it isn't working in the expected way, so that we can get it fixed ASAP.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks Ben.

It worked up to the point where I was clicking Add or Ignore (not sure what the actual buttons were called) then the list would jump to some unfamiliar position and I'd have lots of new links in the list saying "there are more hidden, show them" or somesuch. If I clicked those links the list would jump around again and new definitions would appear. I had no idea what I was adding or not.

When I clicked "done editing" it warned me that I had undefined words and I confirmed that was OK, but when I started editing again those words were in the list, undefined (I thought they were going to be thrown out).

Finally there were some words I had added for which the definition was not the one I intended. I had never confirmed them as OK. I had to prune them out one-by-one.

    Cheers Jem

  • Thank you very much for this in depth report - one more thing, which browser are you using?

    Best wishes
