I'm native speaker of estonian and wouldn't mind uploading a couple of pronunciations every day, however the lists/courses are not mine so there seems to be no way to add audio. Do I absolutely have to start my own course? That seem like unnecessary hassle.
This is from another forum thread - "his is how to mass record audio for the whole of a wordlist:

Posted by jenniferhunter 7/14/12 (10 months ago)download audacity - it is an excellent free recording program http://audacity.sourceforge...
click on a set that you wish to record audio for
click "download" to download a spreadsheet
open audacity and press record
read down the words on spreadsheet one by one, leaving a gap of approx. 1 second between each item.
you need to make sure that you read in exactly the order of the spreadsheet. Any mistakes will result in audio going to the wrong word. It might be best to break the spreadsheet up into sets of 50 or so to get around this issue.
once you have reached the end of the set that you are recording, press "stop".
export the file as a .wav file by clicking "file" export" and selecting ".wav" as the file type.
email the file along with the spreadsheet to ben@memrise.com - it might help to compress the .wav file if it is very large."
Thank you!
Posted by Tulx 7/14/12 (10 months ago)Hmm, that sounds like instructions for a whole wordlist. In my case it's the Hiragana wordlist that someone else has done, but certain characters like "ge" and "gu" didn't come with audio. The original audio is superior when it's available. I'd be adding my accented Japanese to it.
Posted by Vastad 7/19/12 (10 months ago)AFAIK there is currently no method to upload audio files for words if they aren't on your list/course. However I've read somewhere that tools for recording audio on the website might become available someday.
Posted by Tulx 7/19/12 (10 months ago)@Tulx - it shouldn't actually make a difference whether the words are part of your list or not. All lists use words from the wiki of the topic that they are in. They don't belong to the people that create the lists; they are part of the whole wiki. If you add new words to the wiki, then you will be able to edit them for a little while before they are checked and entered into the wiki. After that only topic curators can edit them. You can however become a topic curator if you would like to help out with adding more audio, as that is always needed and welcome! Just let me know and I will set you up.
@Vastad, I see what you mean that having some audio is better than having none, but our current policy is to only allow native speaker audio to be uploaded - there are a few people now who are recording audio for different courses, so if you put a request on the "content needed" forum then you should be able to find someone who can help out.
Best wishes
