I stumbled a few times upon words that didn't make much sense to me, sometimes I can't even find their definition in a dictionary, and they all come from a series of unlisted courses. Problem: these words seem to have been moderated so I have no choice but to use them in my own sets. This series includes some very, very specialized terms such as cyclofenil or entomostraca so I assume that in some context the translation given for the words is correct, and it can maybe be used as an English alternative, but it cannot be the main translation.
The examples I've found so far:
- 器物 translated as 'waref' instead of utensil
- 理应 translated as 'behoove' instead of 'ought to'
- 退缩 translated as 'balk' instead of 'to hold back'
- 肢体 translated as 'podosoma' instead of 'limbs'
What can I do about these words?
Thank you very much for pointing this out, it brings up an important point: if you come across definitions that you disagree with in the wiki, even if the words have been moderated, then please do suggest an edit: that is how the wiki keeps improving. If you can also leave a comment saying why you made the suggestion, then that will ensure that the curators will understand your reasons and also that other people can keep track of the changes.
I hope that makes sense,
Best wishes
Ben
