Some kana words require kanji input.

Some words in my japanese words list require a kanji input, while all other words in the list can just. I don't intend to learn kanji right now. How can I avoid that some words require kanji instad of kana? Is this a bug?

  • Add a discussion onto the words and check that the Kanji is indeed in the Kanji field. A few of them (especially those in Dan.millichip) have the kana and kanji fields reversed.

  • If you post a link to them, somebody can correct them. It's probably not a bug in the software, but broken items.

  • @winner - it is actually best to either make a comment on the word itself or to make en edit to it (if you can fix it by editing) - then curators will be able to see the suggestions that you make and review them easily.

    Thanks!

  • I now understand. It is a feature that is described in the conventions for yapanese. After you get acquintanted with a word in kana, you will be aked to answer in kanji. For me that is a bridge too far.

  • @adekker, if you would like to avoid being tested on the kanji, you can just select "skip kanji" from the menu at the top of the screen during testing, and you won't be tested on them any more.

    I hope that helps,

    Best wishes
