Great idea. I made a list of French Kings and learned a lot doing it.
Its easy enough upload a list if you have an hour or so to spare making a spreadsheet(names in one column, dates in another), then a bit of extra info could be put in the mem box

Posted by carlos_the_dwarf 6/5/12 (11 months ago)would love this, have listened to a few podcasts about the history of ancient Rome and always mess up the names, need some mnemonics for them.
Posted by snugget 6/5/12 (11 months ago)I'l put up the basic course - Emperors and dates (at least up to about 200AD at first. Then I guess we can put mems and pictures for our favourites and build it up.Give me a day ot two

Posted by tonyyyy 6/15/12 (11 months ago)Hi tonyyy, it would be great for me to have the pronunciation of these,I never know how to say them in English.
Posted by griegozurita 6/22/12 (11 months ago)I havent tried doing any audio yet, but will have a go later in July when I am back from holiday - or maybe someone else would like to .
After Alexander there are so many rulers(due to civil wars etc)that I dont think I would have the energy to type them all I might do a continuation list with 'best-of' the later emperors- the good bad and the ugly

Hi, the last days i created an extended version of tonyyy's course. Sorry for "stealing" your topics, @tonyyy, but my course more than triples the amount of content (includes kings, important consuls/dictators and almost the entire generation of emperors between 286-395) and adding pictures to everything took a lot of time (apart from that, your course has pictures now as well!)
I would be really interested in feedback (e.g. who else needs to be included who has at enough significance that he should be known by interested amateurs?)
I will not include audio since i am not English native. Audio recording is supposed to be much more convenient in the future, so i would look out for natives later. I included only a handful of extra info mems, maybe more later, but everybody could add something, especially about the lesser known guys. I will not add mems for remembering myself since i spend so much research when creating the course that i don't need them anymore (i hope).
Posted by azrael42 9/19/12 (8 months ago)This is great, so many of them. I'll probably end up using some kind of method of loci to remember them in order. Great work.
Posted by snugget 9/19/12 (8 months ago)Great - I am pleased you took over the baton. Looks really good too.
