Shorthand for a Major chord can be noted with a capital 'M' and shorthand for a minor chord can be noted with a lowercase 'm'.
In the ʻUkulele courses you will notice that "CM" is NOT available as an option for alternative meanings. This is because answers in memrise are not case sensitive, so the "M" is excluded as "Cm" (C minor) would be marked correct.
However, omitting a shorthand marker is acceptable for a Major chord as it is implied that the chord is a Major, so for the time being "C" will always be correct for a C Major and "Cm" will always be correct for a C minor.
Why not use a minus sign for minor? ex: C-
